Chapter 46
All Yuichiro saw in the mirror was the same face of a 37-year-old man. His eyelids creased upward, giving the impression that he was glaring or sulking. A thought crossed his mind that it was an unattractive face, radiating bigotry and crassness. Obviously, he wasn’t a goddess in the way that a woman is. As opposed to this, he saw a face of a grumpy middle-aged man who was neither handsome nor endearing.
When he raised his chin lightly, he saw a red swelling around the area where his chin and neck bordered. The red marks, which resembled insect bites, brought back last night’s memories of Temeraire sucking on his neck.
As he lightly stroked and rubbed the mark with his thumb, he experienced a heat smoldering inside his body. He splashed cold water on his face in an attempt to mask the rising heat that appeared to be headed for his head. Just as he was leaving the bathroom, Temeraire entered the room. Behind him, there was also Goat.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning, Captain Ogami.”
He was greeted one after another. Yuichiro wiped his face with a towel and returned back a greeting as well.
“You’re up quite late. It’s almost noon,” Goat said with a sly grin.
“I can’t help it,” Yuichiro said, lightly brushing off Goat’s inquisitive look with his hand, “Yesterday was the first fun I’ve had in a long time.”
“Yuichiro-sama!” Temeraire was chastising Yuichiro, who flatly returned the sexual innuendo. Yuichiro’s remark, which alluded to his last night’s encounter with Temeraire, caused Temeraire’s ears to flush slightly.
Next to him, Goat was laughing uncontrollably. “You’re just as much a man as we are, aren’t you, Captain Ogami?”
“Do you people always talk like this?” Yuichiro asked since he couldn’t picture his platoon leaders having an obscene conversation.
When asked, surprisingly, Goat scratched the back of his head and mumbled, “Yeah, I guess so.” Then he continued, “I talk to Tyet a lot. He has three wives and is a surprisingly popular guy. If it’s that kind of talk, we talk about it all the time.”
Yuichiro’s eyes widened slightly as he heard these words. Then, the word ‘adulterer’ from the other day crossed his mind. “Did he really have three wives?”
“In Tyet’s tribe, polygamy is allowed. Well, all of his wives are in Tyet’s hometown, so he hangs out with me in his own way while they’re there.”
“You’re sleeping with him?”
At Yuichiro’s question, Goat erupted loudly. “Please give me a break. I mean that sometimes we go to a brothel or something together,” Goat lifted his hands and shook his head from side to side as if to stop any strange misunderstandings.
“Hmm, there’s a brothel?”
“Of course. If I wanted to buy, I could buy four or five people at once, men or women…”
Temeraire then coughed deliberately. When he looked at Temeraire with Goat, he shot him a glare. It’s the kind of look a girl would give a boy who made vulgar jokes.
“Now that you’ve finished talking, would you like to eat?”
Yuichiro and Goat couldn’t help but nod bluntly when they were addressed in such a harsh tone. Since the weather was fine, they decided to have breakfast and lunch on the balcony. From the balcony, he had a breathtaking view of the entire fortress. A light breeze was blowing, and the weather was mild and pleasant.
On the balcony, chaise lounges made of stone were arranged in a circle with a number of soft cushions on top of them. In the center was a round table with a squat pedestal. After sitting on one of the chaise lounges, Goat joined him on one of the chaises and took a seat directly across from him. Temeraire later left the room to prepare the meals.
As soon as Temeraire had disappeared, Goat sat cross-legged on the chaise lounge and mused, in a gossipy old lady tone, “It must have been tough for Captain Ogami.”
Yuichiro pretended to be unaware and asked back, “What?”
“Again, you know what I mean,” Goat gestured towards his mark by tapping his own neck with his index finger. The place where there was a red mark when he looked at it in the mirror earlier.
Yuichiro ran the palm of his hand lightly across his neck and laughed briefly, “Ah, he’s so passionate, isn’t he?”
“With two jealous husbands, You’d probably get killed if you ever tried to cheat on them,” Goat replied with no hint of sarcasm in his playful tone.
Yuichiro imitated Goat by sitting slack-legged with his chin propped up on his palm. “Yes, I suppose so. They’ll probably kill me.”
Though he doubted they would actually kill him, he was certain that they would eliminate his “affair” partner. Such was the extent of Noah’s and Temeraire’s obsession with him currently.
As Yuichiro absentmindedly cast a gaze toward the town, Goat interjected, “Don’t you feel overwhelmed?”
“Well, a little.”
“Do you want to have fun with me?”
Yuichiro blinked widely and turned his gaze to Goat. The man’s smile was elusive as ever. Tilting his head slightly, Yuichiro asked, “Going to the brothel with you?”
Goat didn’t answer but only deepened his smile. Nothing about his expression suggested what his true motives were.
The moment Yuichiro narrowed his eyes in suspicion, Goat started laughing uncontrollably. A laugh so loud that it seemed to cut through the clouds. “Hahahaha! It’s a joke, a joke.”
Yuichiro’s face scrunched up as he looked at Goat, who was clearly amused by his reaction.
“I’ll get my head blown off if I show Captain Ogami any dirty tricks.“
“Then I’ll have your head stuffed and put on display.”
In response to the sarcastic remarks, Goat simply shrugged his shoulders. “If you take good care of me, I’ll give you as much of my head as you want.”
Oddly enough, Goat’s words this time did not sound like a joke. Yuichiro blinked slowly and continued to stare at him. Shortly after, they heard the sound of a door opening. Temeraire emerged onto the balcony with a sizable tray in his hands.
Immediately after, Goat clapped his hands in the air together. “Come on, let’s eat.”
