Even with his ability to see through heaven’s secrets, he couldn’t precisely understand what that error meant. However, one thing was certain—this was absolutely not a normal information window. Ordinary people couldn’t even see the word “error.”

Yet Sa-yoon’s information window contained many suspicious and strange phrases he’d never seen before, including errors.

Just looking at these was enough to tell:

[True Evil of Humanity]

  • Currently living life as evil designated by the System. The fate of Heaven’s Disaster intervenes in life. Fate intervention power: High grade. Connected to ‘Perhaps I am God’s Descendant?’, ‘Follower of Evil Gods’, ‘Humanity’s Worst Heaven’s Disaster’, ‘Forced Execution’, ‘To You Who Will Be Most Unfortunate’.

The title “True Evil of Humanity” itself was ominous enough, but its contents were literally extraordinary and seemed close to the world’s secrets. Though restrictions prevented him from knowing the details, there are things in this world one can guess just from what’s visible.

That was why Jae-hee had decided to stay by Sa-yoon’s side.

To Jae-hee, Sa-yoon was the person who held the most clues about how this world had become so strange, and the only key who could resolve the current situation.

Of course, just looking at the “True Evil of Humanity” information alone made him seem more likely to destroy the world than resolve anything, but that wasn’t everything.

There was another reason he thought Sa-yoon was the key to changing the world.

[The Resister (Pre-awakening)]

  • Given fate and life cannot shake him. He resists the rules. Fate intervention power: ? grade. Connected to ‘One Watched by Gods’ and 3 other undisclosed items.

Though it showed as pre-awakening, this was the only hopeful phrase among Sa-yoon’s otherwise gloomy information window.

“Given fate and life cannot shake him”—wasn’t this description chillingly perfect for Sa-yoon?

If this trait successfully awakened, Sa-yoon could escape from his ominously foreboding fate as the True Evil of Humanity.

The problem was not knowing how to achieve awakening.

He’d help if he knew how, but he couldn’t. Even with eyes that could pierce heaven’s secrets, the System didn’t show him everything. While that was disappointing, just having a solution for Sa-yoon to escape that cruel fate meant they’d avoided the worst-case scenario.

Yes, The Resister suited him far better than True Evil of Humanity.

Just look at him.

Did this fearless person who dove into this incredibly dangerous and cruel battlefield without hesitation seem like someone who would be helplessly manipulated by the System?

Jae-hee smirked and glanced at Sa-yoon rampaging in the distance before placing his hand on the information window. He tried clicking on ‘One Watched by Gods’ but the System window showed no change. It seemed once you entered a main category, you couldn’t check additional detailed information within it.

He’d already confirmed this with True Evil of Humanity, but it was the same with The Resister’s information window. Disappointed, he closed the window and checked the basic information window again before entering ‘True Evil of Humanity’.

Though Sa-yoon seemed to have a special skill that could see his own status window, Jae-hee could only see the truth. Therefore, he couldn’t check what skills Sa-yoon possessed.

However.

‘Follower of Evil Gods’, ‘Humanity’s Worst Heaven’s Disaster’, ‘Forced Execution’, ‘To You Who Will Be Most Unfortunate’.

He could at least tell that these four names—whether they were skills, titles, or special privileges—were too suspicious and ominously charged to all be skills possessed by one person.

At that point, Jae-hee looked back at Sa-yoon in combat once more. It seemed like it would take a bit longer, so he should probably provide two more summons for support. After calling his summons who were clearing monsters away from Sa-yoon, he sent them to Sa-yoon’s side and rechecked those ominously foreboding names.

Forced Execution and To You Who Will Be Most Unfortunate.

Both phrases weighed heavily on his mind.

What kind of skills are these?

Though he wanted to ask, he kept it to himself, knowing Sa-yoon wouldn’t tell him.

Where did someone like this come from?

Sa-yoon was the most extraordinary person Jae-hee had ever met in his life. From his information window that seemed to collect every possible anomaly, to that thing he’d seen in the gate, plus the error progress—

Could this fate of resistance refer to such an ill-fated destiny?

After pondering briefly, he checked the other trait. The pre-awakening trait made of question marks. Though he’d expected to see nothing, surprisingly it revealed one line of information.

[??? (Pre-awakening)]

  • Nothing is predetermined.

Perhaps because it was a pre-awakening trait whose name wasn’t even revealed. Though it was just that one line, to Jae-hee, this simple phrase hit the hardest.

Nothing is predetermined, huh.

What an intriguing statement in many ways. Thinking this was definitely someone worth keeping close and observing, Jae-hee let out a hollow laugh at Sa-yoon who had already reached the gate entrance.

He hadn’t expected Sa-yoon’s speed to double just from providing two summons.

Who would think this was a C-rank hunter looking at him?

Though his rank had dropped, his battle style and presence were unmistakably S-rank. Jae-hee stroked Rai’s fur, thinking the buffs must be wearing off by now.

“Rai. Go help him.”

Woof!

It was more of a question than an answer. He stroked the summon’s gentle face as it turned to look at him as if asking “What about you, Master?”

“I still have things to check.”

Kang!

This time it seemed concerned about danger. Its expression suggested it was worried about who would protect him if it left, but what an unnecessary concern.

As if his summons ended at just five.

Seven.

He had a total of seven A-rank or higher summons bound by soul contracts. Since he could always call another summon if needed, he stroked its fur, and after whimpering softly, Rai lowered itself to let Jae-hee dismount before heading toward Sa-yoon.

Awoooooo!

Without being told, it instinctively fired off Fenrir’s Fear—truly befitting a Fenrir divine beast with excellent battle instincts. After watching his summon’s retreating back, Jae-hee clicked on the remaining piece of information he hadn’t checked.

‘Error Progress: 12.4%’

He clicked without expectation, and indeed, there was nothing special to see.

[Error Progress]

  • System calculating error.

That was all. He couldn’t tell what caused the error, what exactly the error was, or what would happen when it reached 100%.

If I could meet that being again, I might learn something.

The massive white being he’d met in the gate. If he could meet those called Unknowns again, he thought he might be able to see something new. When he’d met them before, he was simply One Who Sees Through, but now he was One Who Pierces Heaven’s Secrets, so he should be able to see different information.

The problem was having no way to meet an Unknown right now.

As he swallowed his disappointment, Sa-yoon’s voice rang out from the distance.

“Get ready to wrap this up!”

The battle seemed to be mostly over. Since he’d finished examining the information window too, Jae-hee nodded compliantly, bit his finger to draw blood for a summoning circle, and called one more contracted summon.

Pyu-pyu!

The summoned creature cried cutely. Though it looked quite adorable, its size was about three times that of an adult male.

Despite appearances, this was an A+ rank summon, a Griffin.

Though still young, it was plenty strong. Mounting the summon’s back, Jae-hee requested it fly toward Sa-yoon while looking down below. The area filled with monster corpses looked like it could be mistaken for a graveyard built for monsters.

About two hours.

That’s how long it took to kill thousands of monsters. Even considering it was an A-rank gate and his summons helped a lot, it was an astounding speed. Swallowing his admiration, Jae-hee ordered the Griffin to attack the remaining monsters.

BOOM!

What the hell is that now?

He’d said to prepare for the finale, but here was Jae-hee riding some flying beast through the air. Watching this strange bird that would descend to attack monsters it spotted mid-flight before soaring up again, Sa-yoon felt another stabbing pain in his stomach.

Don’t tell me that’s the sixth summon?

Living life so unfairly. Is being a Summoner everything? Should try living righteously as a hunter.

Finding him hateful to the point of being outrageous, Sa-yoon internally mocked him while stroking the two summons at his side. Right, think positively. Though they were someone else’s summons, they were his bus drivers right now, weren’t they?

After stroking their soft fur once, Sa-yoon pulled his wire and checked the remaining monster count.

About two hundred left.

This many could be finished quickly with a drive hunt.

“Herd those monsters over here. Can you do that?”

While stroking the silver wolf, he spoke, and the wolf yipped. He couldn’t tell if it was mocking him or refusing. Well, he was planning to throw it again if it refused, so when he wiggled his fingers, the wolf’s ears twitched before it eventually let out a kek sigh and ran toward the monster group.

Did it just sigh?

Though he’d seen and heard it with his own eyes and ears, Sa-yoon put his hands on his hips, dumbfounded by the unbelievable sight. Soon after, Maru came herding lots of monsters.

“Shiro, Charm!”

The nine-tailed fox summon used Charm at just the right moment to catch the creatures off guard. Sa-yoon seized the opportunity while the monsters were dazed to pull the wire he’d set up like a spider web.

Kadeudeudeuk!

As the wire tightened and dug into the monsters’ flesh—

Swoosh!

Dozens of monsters died instantly.

“Shiro, Maru! Clean up the stragglers! You two join in too!”

While leaving the monsters that hadn’t been caught in the wire to the summons, Sa-yoon dealt with another group trapped in a different area. After repeating this two or three times, finally all monsters had been killed and were rolling on the ground.

It was literally a mountain made of corpses. After confirming the situation was handled, Sa-yoon caught his ragged breath and examined the gate.

“No more coming out?”

More monster groups had already emerged than expected. It would be terrifying if more came, but he checked thoroughly just in case. After going back and forth in front of the gate several times to detect energy, he felt nothing special. The gate also seemed about to close, so just as Sa-yoon turned his back, convinced the conquest was complete—

“Sa-yoon!”

Jae-hee rarely shouted.

Shiver!

Feeling intense killing intent sweep across his entire body, Sa-yoon instantly froze before quickly turning to look behind him.

Whoosh!

A massive sickle was plunging down toward Sa-yoon’s neck.

Oh shit.

Startled, Sa-yoon rolled across the ground. The sickle’s tip grazed his neck, and his weakened body couldn’t withstand even that much, spewing a large amount of blood.

BOOM!

The massive sickle embedded itself in the ground, creating a dust cloud. The attack didn’t stop there. As Sa-yoon hurriedly tried to stand up during the opening, taking advantage of his fall, he swallowed a curse as he felt his legs give out from overexertion.

Looks like he was screwed.

Just as he thought that, there was a Woof! and something moved like lightning to grab his nape. Boom! The sickle missed Sa-yoon again and struck the innocent ground. Sa-yoon wiped the cold sweat dripping from his chin and turned his head.

Woof!

‘Current Status: I saved you! Thank me!’

Fenrir Rai. Jae-hee’s proud summon was holding him in its mouth while wagging its tail vigorously. Sa-yoon sighed once and stroked Rai’s chin. It was a signal asking to be put down.

The composed Rai didn’t make any sudden moves and gently put Sa-yoon down, and Jae-hee approached his side.

“Are you alright?”

His voice was alarmed. Sa-yoon nodded and opened his mouth.

“If I died to something like this, I’d have to quit being a hunter. More importantly…”

Trailing off, Sa-yoon checked the gate. The white gate was strangely undulating as if space itself was warping, spewing forth a being.

Pop! A massive hand holding a sickle emerged from the space first. After that came a head as big as an adult man, followed by arms, torso, and legs, revealing its true form.

A gate error in human form, pure white all over but wielding a black sickle.

Unknown.

It had entered the world riding the gate saturation.
